Comandante Ramona

Comandante Ramona, guerrilla and activist Even before the Zapatista uprising, she had been a leading women's rights activist, helping draw up, in 1993, a "revolutionary Law on Women" was born near San Andrés de Larrainzer, Mexico 1959; and died near San Cristóbal, Mexico 6 January 2006, when her kidney failed. Her real name and details of her life before the revolution were never revealed. When Marcos, Subcomandante, launched his Zapatista rebellion in southern Mexico, he was always seen with a small women along his side everything but her eyes were covered.  Even though Marcos was the public face of the Zapatista National Liberation Army (EZLN) he was not their leader, Comandate Ramona was the leader, and the only reason he was the public face was because the revolutionist did not speak fluent Spanish, only their native tongues. Ramona was demanding greater right for the indigenous people of Chiapas and was protesting Mexico’s involvement in the North American Free Trade Agreement (Nafta), which came into force on New Year’s Day of 1994. Romona sent the first peace talk with the Mexican government in the cathedral of San Cristobal on February 1994. By 1996 she was suffering from a serious kidney disease and received a transplant; however, on October of that year, even though she was sick and fragile she defied the governments ban and showed up in Mexico city for a National Indigenous Congress, people gather around her to stop the police from arresting her, she became almost a mystical figure among indigenous women some even compared her to the Virgin Mary, because of the strength and self-respect she brought to them.

1. Pretend that you are talking to a blind man and have to describe for him what "red" is. You should use narrative and descriptive writing techniques, and try to appeal to his other senses!

Red is like the berating of a mother to her young child for breaking the rules. It is the hit side walk and the hot sand on a summer day, the warm caressing touch of the sun on your skin. Red is the feel of blood when you cut yourself, it is the sirens of the ambulance and the cop car at night. It is the apple you bitten and the cherries, and strawberries you will eat. It is your first love and the way she made you feel. It is the rose you will give your special someone on Valentine’s Day and the way your heart thumps when you’re next to her and she touches you. It is her sweet embrace and her soft kisses the way your body feels against hers. It is the taste of warm red wine on a cool spring day as you sit on the grass and feel the cold wind. The sound of rock and roll in the air, while the smell of cigarettes seduces you and invites you gives in. red is the fire place giving out its radiance to make you feel warm and safe, with a dangerous and exciting adrenaline rush right next to it. It is the fireworks you hear on the Fourth of July while you hear little kids ah in amazement. It is the hot coffee scolding your mouth and the hot tea helping you breath. It is the color of an adulterer and the sound of the dead kid doodles. It is the first thing you think about on Christmas and it is the last thing you think about on Easter. It is the danger you sense when you’re in a forbidden place and evil is calling out to you. It is the last thing you hear as death call for you. It is the passion you have, and the fire that will never die inside of you. It is everything and it is everywhere and it is one thing you will never forget but never miss.

2. How does function in our society? To what extent is it healthy/unhealthy? Offer some real world examples taken from your life, community, culture, state, nation, or world.

Competition in this society is ruff it makes people the worst they can be it is unhealthy. Civilians always want to be number one, they always want to be the winner and they don’t care how they’ll do it to succeed, in this era civilian are competing to see who is better looking, skinner, has the better clothes and who has the most amount of money, as you can see these are not healthy competition they are not who can’t get the better test score, who can run the longest and furthest, or who can stay quite the longest. The competitions we make today are not competition at all but way to hurt ourselves. Civilian are starving themselves to death in order to be the skinniest in the group, then there is the way they treat their body in order to be the prettiest one. They put makeup on and wax their eyebrows, some go to extreme measures and try and manipulate it by putting on tape or a special tool, and civilians are hurting themselves to look the best. Civilians also want to look their best doing so by getting the clothes that is most in style, and not all of them have enough money to access the clothes, which makes them decide to steal and become a criminal. Competition is not safe now a days is has become corrupt and full of evil, they used to be fun, innocent, and naive, but the man came in and made it into something dark creating monsters from humans making them believe they have to win in order to be happy in this life and saying that failure is not acceptable because it makes one weak. Being a failure does not make someone weak giving up and quieting does but trying and failing will only make you stronger, society has changed that they manipulated failure and made it a weakness. Competition use to be safe and fun now they are unhealthy and dark, when will we realize how much harm we are doing to ourselves we always turn the innocent into corrupt things.

3. How have you taken something that you have learned in the classroom and integrated it into your nonacademic life?

The one thing I have taken from my classroom and applied into my nonacademic life is my vocabulary, because it makes me seem far more credible than if I were to use my regular vocabulary. Using high vocabulary will also teach people that they cannot treat me like I am a worthless piece of nothing like I am just a lazy teenager who will probable get pregnant in a few years and marry a god for nothing husband, it will make people realize that I will become someone I life some one important in life and I will also get the respect I deserve. It also makes people listen to what I have to say, and they care for what I have to say, because they are amazed at my vocabulary and they wonder why and how I have such a variety of vocabulary words. I realized that many civilian older than me do not have a cue at what I am saying because they were never taught the vocabulary I know and they ask me why I know this vocabulary and I tell them that is what I have to use for my English class and even though they took the same class in another school their teacher did not teach them that vocabulary. The vocabulary I was taught has helped me get through to ignorant people who think that just because I am younger than them doesn’t mean I am not as smart as they are or that I know how to treat people who think I am unintelligent. I induce people to taking my side with my astonishing vocabulary, I make them see that my side of an argument it the right one, I evoke the same position I have on a subject in their minds. The vocabulary I use is my sorcery weapon I use in the real world I can apply it anywhere I want with whoever I want and I will always say what I feel without sounding to snobby.

4. If you could go back in time and be someone in history, who would you choose to be? Why?

If I could go back in time and be someone in history I would be Stalin, because if he would not have trusted Hitler the holocaust would have never happened. I would be wise enough not to trust Hitler because he was the one that broke the agreement and create a lugubrious time for Jews, gypsies, cripples, and homosexuals.  Stalin could have prevented the war but he didn't on the contrary he helped create it and he also helped Hitler in killing  millions of innocent people whose only crime was not having blond hair with blue eyes. Staling was naive and like every person at that time he believed in Hitler’s word, which as a leader he should have known better because Stalin himself did horrible things, which should have made him realized what other leader where capable of. Staling was naive and ignorant and was not open minded to the possible consequence, because of him there was a genocide of people and an unnecessary second world war. Stalin did his mistake an thanks to that thousands of people died which is why if I could go back in history I would chose to be him. I would prevent the holocaust from happening and save thousands of people.

5. If you had the responsibility to decide where $1 million should be spent to improve conditions somewhere in the world, what project(s) would you choose? Why?

If I had the responsibility of one million dollars to spend them in a project to improve the condition somewhere in the world I would choose to get a project in the US in order to help the economic situation, because since the US is investing in other projects outside the country and they are too blind to notice their own problem they need help. You cannot help someone while you have problems, because your mind is somewhere else, you are not putting all your effort and heart into the project and you are only cheating yourself and the ones you are helping. The US has good intention and they want to help other countries, but they cannot help people when they have economic problem, there is unemployment and bankrupt, which is why I would invest my million dollars in the US and help the bankruptcies and the unemployed people, I would raise the once great nation up on its feet again, so that way it can help other nations and make them grow as well. I would raise a factory and employee as many civilian as I could and with the money from the factory I would help the homeless by creating shelters and in those shelter I would help by giving them an education and rehab help if they have a problem with drugs or alcohol . If there is any money left I would give out scholarship for any university that the civilian chooses, that way it would not put any pressure on them because of their economic problems. Helping the US would help a lot of people not just in the nation but around the world as well, because since the US likes to help other countries without a problem the US will have a better head to think of better ways to help other nation.

6. How have you tried to effect change in relation to an issue of personal, local, or national significance?

A personal issue that I want to try and change is the way I react to a situation especially when I’m with my mother. My mother and I always clash and it is because of my reaction and attitude towards anything, I react in a defensive way even if someone is trying to compliment me because I feel like they are mocking me. I feel like the world is against me and that’s is why I react the way I react, which is why I want to change my mentality in order to stop clashing with my mother. I hate fighting especially with the women who gave me life, and it’s not like when we fight it is about something big or important it is usually just nonsense that I made into a bigger problem than it was supposed to be. I create a huge useless fight that makes us stop taking for day’s even weeks, I hate acting that way but I can’t stop it, it is like I was raised thinking the world is against you and everyone just want to hurt you, well I have to open my eyes and realize it is not evil and it is not trying to hurt me I need to realize that is me who is doing the hurting and, that I have to be the one that changes in order to make my life better by not thinking the world is against me and that everything is done with a bad intention. In reality it is me who is cynical and who has to be more trustful of the human race, I am after all a human and I don’t wish for the worst to happen to people I wish them the best and that is how everyone is and should be. I will change my way of thinking in order to save my relationship with my mother, and the first step is admitting my problem.

7. If you could introduce one new idea or material thing to a primitive culture, what would it be?

The idea I would introduce to a primitive culture would be equality between males and females, because it is important to treat everyone the same and to not discriminate by gender. Women have been proven to be able to do the same things as mean and even more, women can bear a baby, raise the baby, and work to support the child, while most mean just work to support the child and raise it once in a while. Mena don’t have the same capacity as women and dot not think straight because of their hormones, women on the other hand can think straight no matter what situation it is, if it’s an emergence they know exactly what to do. Then even though women can do many things women can’t do everything like carry heavy items or fight alone. Men can lift heavy things and will fight with anything and anyone to protect smaller people. Women and mean have to be together in order to survive this world but they do not only need to work together but work equally no one gets more and no one gets less. If you’re a women or a men it doesn’t matter because we are all human and we all have a capacity we know our, limits and will work equally but with what we can do. Also that way women wouldn’t have to fight for their rights in the future like women are still doing to this day, we still get twenty five cents less than mean for the same job and same position, we need to put an end to this unjustness and make everyone the same, doing so by teaching a primitive culture fist. We all need to learn and the only way to learn something so valuable is by learning it since we are still shaping ourselves.

8. If you were to describe yourself using a quotation, what would that quotation be? After you have chosen a quote, then write a bit about how it relates to you and reveals what kind of person you are.

The quote that describes me the most would be "Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who mater don't mind" by Dr. Seuss, because when you are trying to find out who you really are and you read this you would see how many of your “friends” are really your friends and how many of them you see as friends.  I can be loud and annoying and a little childish and I don’t always say the rig thing at the right time but I know that my true friends will get mad at me but will accept my apologies if it was really necessary, I am not perfect and I know they are not either, which is why I would understand if I really did push her/his bottom. This quote made me realize that in order to have a true friend you have to be true to yourself as well and that no matter what you say or do your friend will always be there, also that it’s not just about friend by important people in one’s life like a parent a brother a cousin etc. because I know I have done things that make my family wish they went related to me; however, if they really cared about me they wouldn’t care about what other thought about me and  they would laugh with me not  at me. This quote made me realize why I hurt my mother when I didn’t want to go to the mall or to go watch a movie with her, she thought I was embarrassed to be seen with her in public and I guess I was but I do love her and I regret making her fell that way because I don’t care what other think about her she is my mother and she gave me life she create me and she made me into a wonderful young lady. This quote came from a great man who wrote children stories , stories that have a greater meaning than they show, this great man taught me a valuable lesson with a single quote, this quote made me realize I should care what other think of my love ones and my love ones shouldn’t car what other think of me.

9. Given the authority to establish a holiday, what would you choose to commemorate? Why? What would the celebration look like?

I would choose commemorate a gay pride as a holiday, because everyone deserves a day and they deserve to be celebrated for being brave enough to come out and say who they really are. They have fought for years and they don’t always win, but they don’t care because like every great hero they don’t give up and they keep fighting for their right to love who they want to love. I admire them for standing up to the ignorant people who don’t understand them and I know that I will stand with them and help them fight, I know their struggle is hard even though I have never seen anyone harass my aunt and my cousin for being lesbian when I’m with them but then again it wasn’t until recently that I knew they were gay and that they each had a special someone. Also we have Valentine ’s Day which is a day about love so why not have a gay pride day they it will not only be about love but human right as well. The celebration would look much like the parade except that it would be one day and everyone would be celebrating, it wouldn’t matter if they were gay or not if they know someone gay or not because it is a holiday, that symbolizes what great people fought for and succeeded in their struggle and they would have a respect for that. There would be rainbow colors and symbols all over the city with civilian wearing a shirt of every color you can possible think of, the smell of hot dogs, hamburger and steak would be penetrating the air, kids running around playing with water guys and water balloons with dogs running around the park wearing tie dye dog shirts. In the middle of the day the will be a parade and people would be cheering and throwing confetti and silly sting, and right when the day is going to end there will be beautiful fire works with a band playing.

10. What is the best advice you've ever received? Explain.

The best advice that I have received is to stay in school and not let any guy distract me from my studies. It is the best advice because the person who told me this cares for me and doesn’t want to see me pregnant and struggling in the future. The person who told e me this does not want to see me like most of my female cousins who got pregnant and dropped out of school who are now suffering and struggling to get cash and maintain a child. Also there is an age for everything and right now it is not the best age to have a boyfriend even though it might seem like it were are still to naive and innocent o understand love and out emotions our hormones are acting up and they’re not letting us think straight. We are still too young and easily manipulated; we will fall for anything anyone tells us, we should wait until we are in college because we will have a better mentality and a better way of thinking. As teenagers we are still too immature and we want to rebel in order to find out who we really are and we feel like we need someone to help us figure ourselves out but we really don’t we don’t need anyone but ourselves.  Wouldn’t you say the same thing to someone you love, you would because you want to see that girl grow up and be someone better than you, you want to see the little girl become someone important  you want to see her become a powerful women who thanks to you advice as able to become what she is. That is how the person who gave met this advice feels about me, they don’t want to see me throw my life away and become a mom at seventeen they want me to be wealth and be able to support my child. They want to see me as powerful happy women.

11. Ask and answer the one important question that a university won't ask you, but you wish they would.

Why did you decide to apply to this university what were you reasons?
The reason I applied to this college is because it is one of the best university in the nation, and it is number one hundred and seven out of the best four hundred universities. Also I love your football team they are one of the best, I admire them they always give their best in every game. I also like the fact that you care about other cultures and that you want to expand the knowledge of them, because it proves you don’t discriminate and that you don’t care where we con from but that we are to your standards and that we have all your requirements done. I appreciate that you don’t discriminate because I am Mexican-American and it makes my blood boil when I hear a discriminatory comment because we are all human and we all have right and we all deserve respect.    One other thing that I chose to apply to this university is the way you care about the community, because one of your requirements is to do community service, which will teach us to appreciate and help the community. I have helped clean up the beach and I danced with my hula group for the people in the old folk’s home and it made me realize that I want to help out the community more. It also taught me that it is my responsibility to do so because  I am a citizen in this country and it is my community and like I keep my house clean and organized to should do the same for my community. I also like the fact that your campus is in front of museums and that you are in Los Angeles because I will be close to my family but far enough to live my own life. These are the reasons why I like you University and why I chose to apply to it.

12. Your life is a movie. Describe the first 15 minutes

I hear the alarm, as I think to myself five more minutes , just five more minutes I can’t bear the thought of leaving my perfectly warm pink and beige color blankets with flowers on then and to leave my full sizes bed with a black  head and foot rest. Suddenly I realized that those five more minutes turn to ten and then to twenty and it wasn’t  until I hear the alarm again that I saw the time, it is now seven in the morning and I have to get in at school as eight fifty five I only have thirty to forty minutes left. I wake up run to the bathroom get unchanged I wake for the water to get hot, I wash myself I get out and run to my room to change I get my jeans with any shirt I run to the bathroom and brush my teeth, and put on my shoes I run to my brothers room and shake him from his futon bed which is black with blue and gray. He looks at me and with his morning breath ask why I’m so crazy this morning I tell it’s because I’m late and we need to leave now, he wakes up clears his face puts some jeans and a sweater gets his keys and wallet on and were are out the door in the car. The car won’t turn on I can’t believe it out of all the days it has to be today, I run back inside and get my dad’s cars keys we go to his car and  realize it has no gas. I am on the brink of crying because yesterday they were doing tardy sweeps and I don’t want to get a Saturday school. I run get my mother’s car keys we get inside and we are on our way. As I get to my class breathless and tired just in time for the bell to ring they announce that there are no tardy sweeps today. I wanted to cry and scream I had a terrible morning and they come out with this nonsense, I hate this school. My eyes are getting a little water so I just out my head down on the desk and wait.

13. Write a letter to your future college roommate introducing yourself and your background.

Dear Julia,
I am writing to inform you that I will be your future roommate in the fallowing fall. My name is Alejandra Andrade: I have an older brother who is two years older than me, a mother and a father who I fight with a lot. I am a graduate from Castle Park High School. I love cooking and baking and I tend to make the best brownies in the world. I come from a Mexican background with working class parents; I have only three grandparents, two grandmas and one grandpa which I love with all my heart and I hope their still in this world to watch me graduate. I have an aunt and uncle who are like my second parents who just like their sons and sons wife, other than my parents, were always on my side making sure I wouldn’t lose track of where I was going and what my goals were. I am very open minded and I have a mentality that everyone should be free and have the right to be with whoever they want, I also believe that the border it just an invention that it brining hatred and lugubrious feeling in this country. I love musses even though I can sing or play anything, I especially like oldies especially Elvis Presley, and I just recently realized that I like musical movies. I am a type of girl that wants to be there for her friends and try to make them feel better when they are down; however, I can’t always be there for them I wish I could but I can’t.  I love to eat food and I will try anything once if I don’t like it I won’t every try it again, I also clean better when I’m alone in the house I don’t really know why but I just do. I can act childish sometimes and I do get really down even though I’m very happy person. Well I guess that’s all I will see you in a few months and I hope we become great friends. I wish you the best.
 Sincerely
Alejandra Andrade

14. Please describe your reactions/ideas to the following quote: "He does not possess wealth, it possesses him."

The quote “He does not possess wealth, it possesses him" means that people are being ruled by ambition and greediness, money controls the  person and it is what drives him/her, the need to have more and more money and the way people try to get it no matter who they hurt or what they do to get it. A person my become a robber or many even become a murder just to get money, they won’t stop until they get it and they don’t care about anything but the money, their ambition is too much that they neglect themselves and if they have children they neglect them as well. There is another quote that is similar it is, “When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace” it is the same concept; however instead of it being money it is power, the quote is correct when humans do stop giving important to money and power this world will no longer be a corrupt place, it will be a safe place to live in. Humans vulnerability and ignorance will not let them see how easily they can be manipulated by worthless things, worthless thing we make valuable too valuable they cost more than our lives, we cannot see how we are being consumed by our greed and ambition we do not see that we can survive without luxury in our lives. We are too blind to see our fault in the system we put too much significant to money we make it our primary reason to live. When you ask a child what he/she want to be when they grow up they responded by saying a single word… rich, even at such a young and innocent age they are given the mentality that money is a must and that they cannot live without it. Well I for one don’t want to be consumed by it, tell me do you?

15. What is the most valuable contribution you could make to a college campus? Explain.

The most valuable contribution I could make to a college campus would be maintain students aware of what is go in this nation from social to politics and religion to discrimination and violence. I will inform the students of everything I know and I have read about in order to make sure they stay safe and make the right decision in anything. Maintaining awareness will also make students less ignorant and more knowledgeable of their country and the way it work and the faults as well as the virtues it had. They will know everything they need to know in order to go out in this society and succeed, they will face any dilemma they face and respond political question with their true opinion on any subject and when the person asking a question ask were he/she graduated from, because of the person is amazed at the wonderful answer, the graduate will respond USC which will be giving the school a recognition and in a higher position than it already is at. Also the campus will also be full if intelligent people not just book smart, street smart as well and with a better criteria in politics or in nationwide problems. These students will not be gullible to anything, they will be prepared to take on the world put there no just with the knowledge you have thought them but their own knowledge as well. They won’t be robots like everyone else, they will be free of the chain they will be themselves with their own unique way of thinking. Keeping the students will teach them many things they were too naïve to understand in high school. They will be outstanding as well as me, putting USC in a higher position than it already is, it will be the university everyone will want to go to because it is where knowledgeable people are born.

16. Explain a significant experience, achievement, risk you have taken, or ethical dilemma you have faced and its impact on you.

A significant experience I have faced it going around the mall and asking people for donation in order for our school group to walk an eighteen mile walk to help the Unión del Barrio raise funds to support the  struggle against migra terror and community self-defense. Many civilians just hear the word “deportation” and “immigrants” and walked away or said I don’t have money, which made me realized even though the government keeps on asserting that is a “free country” there is still discrimination and preference of “race”, this country categorizes people and from that they choose the category they view as true Americans. This is going against the constitution by discriminating people by the color of their skin just because it is darker than theirs, it doesn't matter if you’re even a tad darker or that you speak a different language we are all one race and that is the human race and we all deserve freedom. Americans now where once immigrants too, which takes away their right to discriminate and want to keep immigrants out they are being hypercritical, no they are behaving like Hitler killing a immigrants just for wanting to be in  a better country and have a brighter future for them and for their children. Why must one who wants to progress in life suffer for one who does not know the price of freedom and takes it for granted, it is not fair to see someone want to succeed and the right being taken away for not having paper or a passport. We live in a very unjust country even though we think of it as a free county, we lionize this country, and even though we watch it we let it do this atrocity we don’t stop it and we ever will. Well thanks to this experience I will stand up and I will fight I will find a way to make everything better for people who are trying to find a better future.

Journal Response 17

17. Discuss some issue of personal, local, national, or international concern and its importance to you.

A national concern that is of importance to me is the eating disorder, because it affects everyone not just the civilians that have the disorder but the family, the friends, and the society as well. An eating disorder can be anything from anorexia and bulimia to obesity, and it knows no age limit it can choose to attack a fifteen year old to even a five year. The eating epidemic has become bigger with what the society views on beauty are that have been brought upon by men who work in the media and decide how to look and when to look it. Women in the United States of America are defined by time and size, is it not sad that we are a “free country”; however, we are more patriarchy than the countries we are fighting because women there are being “dominated”  by their men telling them the only space they can be in, well what situation would you rather live in: one were a man pours acid in your face for wanting to get an education, or one were oneself hurts and even kills oneself to look better for a guy who will only love you for your looks ad size. I would choose to have someone pour acid on my face than to hurt myself, I have to admit that I have called myself fat and I have tried to hurt myself; however, my family and friends told me I was beautiful and in all  honesty I love food too much, but do you see how close I was and there are smaller girls who do go through this that they starve them self’s to look like a Barbie doll or a supermodel fifteen and thirty years old starve themselves models starve them self’s almost every star starve themselves, and then there is obesity, this is caused not just by a parent’s neglect to take care of a child but the promotion of “good” healthy food these fast food chains assert they have; however, this is not true they are fool of grease and fat some don’t even have a clean environment, I know because my brother works in a fast food restaurant and tells me what goes on in the place. It is sad how much we hurt ourselves in this society and how we do not take care of ourselves and our love ones we need to put a stop to this and we need to change society.

18. If you could choose two things to change about our high school campus, what would they be and why?

If I could change two things about my high school campus it would be the principal and the assistant principal because they treat the student, who are almost adults, like children and they are not even doing their job, because if they did do it they would be working too hard trying to solve every student problem, not home problem and not even social problems, but problems about students classes or education. You see one day my classes where changed, and I was furious because they rearranged my schedule wrong and they gave me a class that didn't even have a teacher but a substitute, knowing that the assistant principal would not listen to me alone I called my mother. She came and I explained my problem to her, she asked to speak to the assistant principal. After the assistant Principal hear us he just said that it might be impossible to fix it and that if he did fix it there would be another students enraged mother berating him and ordering him to handle her sons/daughters classes, showing that he did not care about my education and did not want to fix the problem because it would make more work for him. Amazed that even in front of my mother he showed his true colors she warned him to take it to the district if my classes would be fixed. Even though he changed my classes I know he only did it because of my mother’s warning not because he was concerned with y education and for that matter for my future, a stranger that I met at a mall was more concerned for my well-being than the very person that was supposed to always be there for a student. Then there is the incident the one the principal made worse my minimizing the significance of the problem, in order to keep the students in a bubble, a bubble that has been broken since high school began for them, parents were enraged and the media once again came over, vilifying and degrading the school and the students. Also ever since “the office” stared to do tardy sweeps, picking up students who get locked out of the call room because the principal order to teachers to do so for being late, students stared losing more class time because they make a student who was five minutes late thirty minutes late, which is idiotic since they do not want students to loose class time. These people are the ones I would change in my high school in order to have a better system.

19. Should school attendance be mandatory? In your answer, be sure to explore what the function of education is, and what our nation would look like if the masses were less educated.

School attendance should not be mandatory; although school is the place to get an education it is for one important to choose were and what he/she wants to learn. A person has the ability to know how they learn and where they learn better, one might find school like a prison and will not learn well because they feel they are being forced to learn, others might feel school like a form to escape from their lives and might feel relax and calm and learn better in school. Even though school gets kids out of the danger of the street life the there is also danger is school with bullies, who lowers the self-esteem of a person and makes them self-conscious. Bullies scar a person for life and traumatize them making them feel less, wouldn’t you like to save a person from the street than from them self’s, because bullies would hurt them to the point that they might even want to kill themselves. Education is very important especially to make a nation flourish; however, the only way to educate people is by teaching them were they can learn better because some people can learn better outdoors than indoors, if our nation would not like to get an education we would be in danger of being invaded by another nation. In order to make anything flourish people need an education, because it gives people the knowledge to run a business or nation and it give people a problem solving criteria and different ways of thinking. School attendance should not be mandatory; however, school should be, not just for oneself but for the future and for the nation.

20. If you had the ability to talk to one species of animal, which animal would you choose to communicate with? Why?

If I had the ability to talk to one species of animal it would be the canine in order to find out the truth of the human race and of their own kind. Many human have a domestic pet and in most cases it is a dog, which can be indoors or outdoors either way the see as hear what humans talk about and do, just by the way that the human treats their pet say a lot about them. If the human is violent toward the dog but is not towards humans it show that he/she bottles up all there emotion and stress and take it out on the most vulnerable, proving that the frustrated human cannot show  his/her true self to the humans by fear of rejection. If the human treats the animal like his/her own son/daughter then that human has a heat of gold who has love to spear or someone who never had a child but wishes to; however, it may also speak about a dark side of the person that one never knew about. He/she could actually treat the animal better then his/her son/daughter, because the animal is better at listening or doesn't talk back. Dogs like every other animal have been underestimated, not just in their ability but in their intelligence. By being able to talk to a canine I will be able to find out if they are smarter than us or just the same, for example I believe my dogs are secretly smart because they behave or pretend to be injured just to get a treat, then again make me believe otherwise because they never learn from their mistakes. As one can see being able to talk to a dog would answer this question, and my biggest reason, other than figuring out the human nature, would be to end the sterotypes people have of dogs such as that they are unintelligent and have attention deficit hyper activity disorder, because they go nuts when they see a squirrel or that they hate the mailman.
